Goldfish Swim School

"Goldfish Swim School was created by parents, for parents, with this goal in mind — to give kids the platform to build essential life skills that will help them make waves in life. We’ve created an inviting and safe place where kids overcome their fears, learn to swim, respect the water and have lots of fun while doing it. Our award-winning tropical environment and shiver-free pools are simply the fun backdrop for where kids do some serious growing and learning. So while we’re focused on the serious stuff, your family will be focused on the fun. It’s what we call The Science of SwimPlay"

A very special thank you goes out to Goldfish Swim School for coming by today to give a presentation on swim safety! We loved having "Bubbles," the mascot at our school today!

Sensory Bottles!

It’s long been established that young children are oriented toward sensory experiences. These experiences lay the foundations for learning other skills, along with fine-tuning motor muscles to boot. Discovery of such essential characteristics is a natural starting point for a myriad of life’s journeys. Generally-speaking, specialists collectively understand that the five key benefits of sensory play are as follows

1. Sensory play builds nerve connections within the developing brain’s neural pathways, which trigger a child’s inclination for and ability in competing more complex learning tasks
2. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction
3. Sensory play aids in developing and enhancing memory functioning
4. Sensory play is great for calming an anxious or frustrated child
5. Sensory play helps children learn vitally important sensory attributes (hot, cold, sticky, dry, etc)
We are so excited to be celebrating the fun of sensory play this week at AoSL!

KBC PE Class!

Physical education is an essential part of healthy living for people of all age groups, especially those in elementary school. Physical education at school helps in preventing obesity and high blood pressure. Physical exercise helps children burn off their extra calories. By doing physical exercises individuals use their extra calories to gain energy. Plus, such activities play an important role in the healthy growth and development of bones and cartilages. Bone strengthening exercises such as jumping are particularly important for school children as such activities produce a force onto the bone that helps enhance its strength and growth. While muscle strengthening exercises make muscles larger and stronger, they also help children carry more weight and aid in protecting joints against injuries.

We are so thankful for Mr. Kevin and our BGA friends for coming by today and giving our rising kindergarteners a taste of a real Physical Education class!

KBC Check-In!

Kindergarten Boot Camp is in full swing at AoSL! Our friends get to eat lunch in the "cafeteria" every Monday and Wednesday. They practice walking in the lunch line, carrying their lunch trays, and opening their milk cartons. We want to ensure our friends are Kindergarten ready in EVERY aspect!

So happy for "cafeteria" day!

Class Murals

As kids manipulate a paintbrush, their fine motor skills improve. By counting pieces and colors, they learn the basics of math. When children experiment with materials, they dabble in science. Most important perhaps, when kids feel good while they are creating, art helps boost self-confidence.

This week is all about Art at Seaboard Lane! Our friends were busy today, painting classroom murals. Can't wait to see the end result!

Project Play!

STEM is an acronym for learning about four specific areas of curriculum – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM learning usually incorporates activities that encourage knowledge of everyday problem solving and critical thinking. We focus on STEM through exploration, play, and building curiosity about the natural world and the way things work. STEM learning is important for everyone and can happen anytime, anywhere. The four STEM disciplines are integrated in our everyday lives and many important jobs.
We are proud to have a whole summer dedicated to STEM learning through our program Project Play! Our Pre-Kers below are STEM ready learners!
