Fall Reminders at Seaboard Lane!

Fall is in FULL swing at AoSL, and we are absolutely loving seeing the leaves change colors and the cooler weather! Fall is special time for us, as we host our annual FALL FESTIVAL. All families, friends, and neighbors are invited out to the school on Friday October 27th from 5-7PM. We will have food, drinks, a dessert and chili cook-off, balloon artist, bounce houses, a DJ, and soooo much more!
This year, we are doing things a little different with Fall Fest. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to Fall Fest, as we will have our annual Trunk-or-Treat in the parking lot. Don't forgot your Halloween basket/bucket.

We also encourage families to bring in candy, small trinket toys, and/or stickers/tattoos for our Trunk-or-Treat. Just drop it off anytime before Oct. 27th at the front desk, and remember NO NUTS OR PEANUT BUTTER!

Halloween Class Parties are Tuesday, October 31st at 3:30PM. No costumes, please. Remember to sign up to bring food items for your child's party. NO grapes and as always NO NUTS OR PEANUT BUTTER.

Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour on November 5th!

Last but certainly not least, cast your vote for your favorite pumpkin in the enrichment room. The winning class will receive a special treat. Remember there's ONE vote per child.
Here are this year's contestants:

FINGERPAINTING FUN!

Benefits of Finger painting include:

  • It is an excellent tactile experience.
  • It stimulates your child’s senses. (Touch/feel, sight, smell, edible finger paint= taste)
  • It helps a child’s intellectual development. The mixing of colors teaches your child about their colors and how to create new colors
  • It allows them to use their imagination and create
  • It is emotionally soothing (in most cases).
  • It encourages cognitive development.
  • It strengthens the hand and fingers which helps with fine motor skills.
  • Most importantly, it is FUN!
There are many more benefits to finger painting in early childhood for toddlers, preschoolers, babies and even adults! Look at the list above and try finger painting with your child. Did you feel emotionally soothed? Your senses would have definitely been stimulated!

Car Seat Safety 101

Choose the Right
Direction: Rear- or
Forward-Facing
For the best protection, keep your baby in a rear-facing car seat until 2 years old or more. You can find the exact height and weight limit on the side or back of your car seat. Kids who ride in rear-facing seats have the best protection for the head, neck and spine. It is especially important for rear-facing children to ride in a back seat away from the airbag. When your children outgrow a rear-facing seat after age 2, move them to a forward-facing car seat. Keep the seat in the back and make sure to attach the top tether after you tighten and lock the seat belt or lower anchors (LATCH). Use the top tether at all times. Top tethers greatly reduce your car seat’s forward motion in a crash. Kids can remain in some forward-facing car seats until they’re 65 pounds or more depending on the car seat limits. Check labels to find the exact measurements for your seat. Discontinue use of lower attachment when your child reaches the limits set by your car seat and car manufacturers. Continue to use the top tether. You must read both manuals to know about those limits. Not to worry: Once your child meets the lower anchor weight limits, you will switch to a seat belt. Seat belts are designed and tested to protect all adults as well as children in car seats and booster seats.
