Bountiful Harvest!

Derived from the Latin words “cornu” meaning horn, and “copia” meaning plenty, the cornucopia has long been used as a common harvest symbol associated with a plentiful bounty. Historically, a real goat’s horn, filled with fruits and grains, was depicted at the center of lavish tables of food.

Our friends in Toddler 3 loved filling their cornucopias with fruit and veggies for Thanksgiving!

Tunnel Play!

With the weather being soooo chilly this week, our teachers have been creative with physical play activities for their students. One class enjoyed tunnel play. Tunnels can provide many benefits to the health and well-being of children. These include:
  • Exercise: These structures give children a way to exercise that differs from other types of play equipment. Crawling or scooting through the tunnel can enhance the physical activity they are gaining from other play pieces.
  • Developing Motor Skills: They can help children develop their gross motor skills. The climbing movement helps them control the moving of their arms and legs. Choosing various shapes can help develop these important skills.
  • Fun: Of course, tunnels offer a child a fun and interactive way to play. They can move through them, hide in them, or look out of them in the models with bubbles or windows. They can make the whole play space more fun and exciting for children, helping them get more out of their play experience.

Basketball Fun!

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is not expensive; instead, it is attainable. You only have to secure a ball and a ring. And basketball is a fun and easy to learn for children’s level of cognition. In basketball, you run, jump, dribble, and shoot.

Balance is the foundation of basketball. In order to teach young children basketball basics, demonstrate the proper basketball stance that will enable the young players to maintain their balance. Teach them to spread their feet apart, flex the legs on their knees, maintain their upper body in an upright position, with head facing in front and parallel to the ground, and flex their arms on their sides. Balance prevents the young children from falling down easily.

Our toddler friends love a good game of basketball!
