Kindergarten Boot Camp featuring CAFETERIA LUNCH!

During Kindergarten Boot Camp, our rising Kindergartners are granted the opportunity to have lunch cafeteria style, where they move through an actual lunch line, carry a lunch tray, and open their very own milk cartons. Our first cafeteria day was a hit!

FOOT SENSORY!

Providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses as they explore their world through sensory play is crucial to brain development – it helps to build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways. This leads to a child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks and supports cognitive growth, language development, gross motor skills, social interaction and problem solving skills.

Space Week!

Space is an amazing place. The sheer vastness of it, along with the trillions upon trillions of objects in the many billion galaxies of the universe is almost incomprehensible to the human brain. Our PreK students are having loads of fun learning all about space this week!

Here are some fun facts they've learned so far:

1) One million Earths could fit inside the sun – and the sun is considered an average-size star.
2) For years it was believed that Earth was the only planet in our solar system with liquid water. More recently, NASA revealed its strongest evidence yet that there is intermittent running water on Mars, too!
3) Comets are leftovers from the creation of our solar system about 4.5 billion years ago – they consist of sand, ice and carbon dioxide.
4) You wouldn’t be able to walk on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune because they have no solid surface!
5) If you could fly a plane to Pluto, the trip would take more than 800 years!

Gross Motor Time!

Working on gross motor skills helps a child gain strength and confidence in his/her body. It also helps them get exercise and physical activity, which is important for a healthy lifestyle. Developing these skills helps a child's ability to do more complex skills in future activities. These toddlers really know how to keep things moving as they take turns hopping & sliding down our indoor climber!

Sensory Play

Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction. Even though this just looks like splashing around in a bucket, so much more is happening!

The Science Behind BUBBLES!

Bubbles provide the opportunity to study science concepts such as elasticity, surface tension, chemistry, light, and even geometry. A bubble is just air wrapped in soap film. Soap film is made from soap and water. The outside and inside surfaces of a bubble consist of soap molecules. A thin layer of water lies between the two layers of soap molecules, sort of like a water sandwich with soap molecules for bread. They work together to hold air inside. Bubbles can stretch and become all kinds of crazy looking shapes.

Our Pre K friends had a blast discovering, making, and blowing their very own bubbles!
