Imaginative Play

Preschool 3 was busy this morning in open centers. We love seeing them choose their own center to play in and more importantly how they choose to play in it. Imaginative play at this age allows each child to play and learn about different topics in their own way. Whether they are using the tool bucket and tools the correct way as they have been shown, or if they are using them for a completely other activity, they are still engaging with their developing mind.

Shape Makers

PreK 2 was busy making 3D shapes with their connector cubes this morning. They discussed shapes and how to make them out of various objects. Letting this age group design and have their own thoughts about how to make the shapes themselves is great for the development.

Little Readers

Toddler 3 was using their small group time to look at books this morning. Although they are not quite studying sight words or letter recognition, they are still telling the stories in front of them. Using the pictures and the verbal cues from their teachers, they are able to understand the sequence of their favorite story.

Imaginative Play

Open centers is the best time for imaginative play! Preschool 4 was busy in dramatic play center this afternoon. From veterinarians and doctors, to princesses and wood shop, they all use their own idea of what these are to play them out in person. Having the children use "free play" allows them to bring all of this to life!

Number Recognition

Working on number recognition in Preschool 2 this morning. Using the visual of the gingerbread men and having them match with a number is a great way to introduce this skill. These are simple activities that can be done at home too.

Small Motor

Small motor practice with our toddlers this week! Something as simple as painters tape on a table, showing them how to lift a corner and get it off. Getting them comfortable using their small motor skills for later on in their education and childcare is essential for their development.

Sink or Float?

Toddler 3 was playing "Sink or Float" as part of their discovery curriculum this week. Using their favorite chosen toys to put in the water and visually create the concept. The class did this in a small group setting in order to help the children better understand. Using a physical example of a concept at this age is so important for their development.

National Young Readers Day

Today is National Young Readers Day! We had the opportunity to have a few of our parents come in to class and read with us. The kids love having any sort of guest, especially when it is their own mom or dad. We love to include the family on events such as this to get them involved in our classrooms more.

The Claw!

Even our infants are playing fun games in their class. Ms. Jaclyn loves to do all the fun things with her kids and include them in everything the older kids do. There is not much besides cute foot print art that typically goes home to parents for art projects but this one takes the cake!

Teacher and child interactions are at the forefront of our program. We know that these times in the classroom have a long lasting impact on the children and their development. Teacher are truly the best friends we never knew we needed!

Let's Get Messy!

Preschool two got a bit messy but LOVED it! They were working on their "All About Me" bags in class today with our Team Coordinator, Ms. Tori. Putting the most unique aspect of themselves on it, hand print! The sensory experience is super important for this age group mainly to expose them to different textures. The messy part is just a bonus!
